The Early Signs of Spider Season
Natural spider repellent solutions become especially important as the warmer weather arrives. It’s May Bank Holiday, a real marker that Spring is now transitioning to early Summer and the joy and changes that can bring.
Yesterday as I was taking a stroll through a garden I felt for the first time in a while that unmistakable sticky, silk-like sensation of spider web brushing across my skin. Whilst easy enough to brush off, along with the warm weather it is symbolic of the very early stages of Spider season.
Why Spiders become more common in summer
Whether it is in the garden, or with windows in our homes now spending more time open, we’ll be seeing more and more of them until the peak of the UK Spider Season which typically runs from late August to October. The latter period is peak is their ‘mating’ season which increases their activity, and also coincides with a cooling of our weather and hence they tend to seek indoor shelter more.

This trust has inspired us to expand our Spider Spray range over the years – and we now have a number of variations including our 250ml variant and our refill product.
We have also listened to customers who favoured specific essential oil for spiders and have both our Home & Spider repellent products – handy 30ml bottles of essential oil which can be used neat, or as a base concentrate to make your own peppermint spider repellent.
The Spiders are coming – get Repelling
For the next few months we’ll all be seeing more and more spiders. And for an estimated 6% of the population – that equates to full on arachnophobia as this article from the British Psychological Society notes – https://www.bps.org.uk/research-digest/fear-spiders-may-have-its-evolutionary-roots-aversion-scorpions. Whether you have a phobia, or just a bit of an aversion my belief is firm – spiders do play an important role in our ecosystem and to repel or deter the spider is the only humane solution!
